"Rite for Gillett and daughter Thursday

"Memorial services for the late Dr. Phillip L. Gillett, widely known organizer for the Young Mens Christian Association in the orient, and his daughter, whose death followed her father's by a few days, will be held at 11 am Thursday in the Law drawing room. The Rev. Loren M. Edwards, pastor of the First Methodist church, will give the sermon, afther which the ashes will be interred at private services in Evergreen cemetery. The Y.M.C.A. will participate in the services. Dr. Gillett died November 26 in Utica, NY, his daughter died December 7 at her home in Barre, Mass. Dr. Gillett, who lived here for several years, was a brother of Dr. O.R. Gillett, city health officer. Mrs. Harrison was a native of this city and attended school here. Word of Mrs. Harrison's death reached Dr. O.R. Gillett at Philadelphia as he was returning home after attending services for his brother."

Mrs. Bertha A. Gillett Dies at Her home at 87

Mrs. Bertha A. Gillett, widow of Phil Gillett, YMCA Missionary for many years in the Orient, died Wednesday morning at her home, 9 W. Boulder St. She was 87. Mrs. Gillett was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Carey Allen, and was born in New York state. The Allen family came to Colorado Springs when Mrs. Gillett was a young girl, and lived at 715 N. Weber St. Dr. and Mrs. Gillett were married in the Orient while he was serving there as a missionary. Her brother, the late Frank Allen, was a ticket agent at the Santa Fe Station here. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert Hubbard of Morrison, a sister, May, who lives in New York state, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in Lehmberg Chapel of the First Methodist Church at 10 am Monday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
