History of Our Club
Meeting in the historic Angie Williams Cox Library on
Pardeeville's Main Street, twenty enthusiastic gardeners and wannabees joined forces and created the Pardeeville Garden
Club in September of 1997. By-laws were created and officers elected. The decision was made to have $15
family or individual yearly membership dues which would entitle members to a monthly newsletter and free admission to all
regular monthly programs depending on the fee of the speaker. The monthly programs have consisted of a variety of
speakers on various gardening topics, an occasional craft or cooking program, various field trips, Members' Garden Tour,
a spring plant exchange, a fall seed and bulb exchange and a yearly Christmas Social. A fundraising "Garden Party"
plant, bake and art sale is held in the spring. Other activities include a "Landscape Beautification Contest" open
to all PGC members and anyone with a Pardeeville mailing address. In addition to the judged contest, community members
are also acknowledged for their landscape improvements with a PGC Garden Award through a nomination process. Activities
with the local elementary and high school students are encouraged and a scholarship program for a college-bound student created.
Donations have been made to the library for gardening type materials. We have participated in the purchasing, planting
and maintaining of Main Street window boxes and barrel planters and other Community Enhancement activities in the village. We
feel very fortunate to have grown to over 70 members and to have established an informative, community active and responsive
group that has a good time! We welcome new members! Information and membership forms are available at the library.
Or call Membership Coordinator Kris Soderman at 429-3407.
