The B.E.T.H. Foundation
is a not-for-profit organization that seeks
to teach teens the importance of making
responsible decisions when behind the wheel
of a car. In order to do so, we believe
that teens need a more complete drivers
education prior to receiving their license.
Studies show that the
number one reason for teen accidents in
the United States is due to inexperience.
In fact, the latest statistics from the
Governors Council on Dangerous & Impaired
Driving show 16 and 17 year-old drivers
accounted for approximately 27,000 accidents
in Indiana and only 184 were alcohol related.
We believe that the 6
hours of actual behind-the-wheel instruction
required by current Indiana Drivers Education
Programs simply is not adequate. Most Drivers
Education programs are conducted in summer
months with sunshine and dry roads. Situation
such as fog, rain, snow, and ice cannot
be properly covered because of this time
limitation.
