Two trips were made to Mexico. The
first trip was made solo, not
knowing anything about the region, but finding it nothing short of
spectacular. It was one of those unexpected experiences in
life.
I even drove my Corvair across
the Rio Grande, in the Big Bend
National Park.
Actually in
Mexico, I was targeted by a hord of
children who wanted
to trade various pieces of colored glass
and other
trinkets, for money.
Big Bend National Park is a wondrous area, having forest areas and
mountains, in addition to the Santa Elena canyon, through which the
Rio Grande river winds.
On the second trip I had several passengers. Ron Hoke and Wayne
Miyahira, and another who I can't recall, although it may have been
Dick Ingalls. I remember we returned to Goodfellow very late
at night, each of us wondering if we would make it in time.
Little did I dream that the Corvair would eventually be left in Texas.
What an inglorious end !
