Goodfellow AFB is located near San Angelo, Texas.  San Angelo is in the Southwest quadrant of Texas.

The first thing I noticed about Goodfellow was that  the wind was always blowing.  The wind  did influence the hot weather, causing the high temperatures to be at least tolerable.

We were housed in a wooden  barracks, very similar to  the one that we occupied at DLIWC.  I can't remember too much about this particular school other than we were taught how to operate and maintain a tape recorder.  I do remember the instructor was a little bit gung ho.

We marched from the barracks to the school site,  led by  Sgt. Sanders, who tried to present a stern military persona, but who in reality was not the task master.

The following narratives have been excerpted from a daily log maintained by Ron Hoke.

4/14/68 Hoke and Jones go for a little drive (540 mi.) in the Jones vehicle to Big Bend and get back to base at 12:30 am.

7/5/68 Hoke working with Jones planning drive from San Angelo to Ohio. Ingalls is flying home and Dryke may be needing ride to South Bend to catch a plane.

7/16/68 "Stupid" Mexican turns in front of Jones and Rodger’s Corvair is totaled. Jones unhurt. Everybody in process of changing travel plans.
