The music you are hearing is "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"  by Gordon Lightfoot. Why this song with this page?  There are parallels for sure. The voyage from Istanbul to Sinop was on the C Kamel,  a ship that suffered severe weather,  just as did the Edmund Fitzgerald. Who can forget attempting to leave the port of Eregli, only to be turned back by monstrous waves?  Listen to the lyrics closely and tell me if the song is appropriate. It is my observation we were lucky to survive.

The "Timeline" for the C Kamel
                              (Information provided by Ron Hoke)

11/21/68     The Sinopian Six arrive via Pan American
                   Airways, in Istanbul.

11/22/68     Everybody is boarded onto the C  Kamel a
converted yacht - about 70 feet in length).
We try to  entertain ourselves by playing
cards while awaiting departure for Sinop,
                   later that evening.
