My sis, Di Wion, with a nice bucketmouth. |
The last week of May, 2009, was cold, windy and rainy on Portage Lake, MI. Fishing was tough,
but my brother-in-law Rich Wion finally cracked the code by backreeling with the wind in order to let his plastic lure lie
motionless on the lake bottom. Eventually a bass or walleye would eat it, but they would sometimes be 150-200 feet behind
the boat when they took. Tough fishing, but we caught enough to eat well and take a few bags home. All but two
of the bass were released, and we ate rock bass and walleye.

Rich nails a nice largemouth. |
Di caught some nice fish, but cooked us some even nicer meals during the four days/nights we spent at beautiful Portage
Point Inn. Despite the rain and cool weather, we had a good time.

Iris takes her first ride in Grandpa's D-Star. |
Iris enjoyed her first-ever ride in my D-Star while Isaac and I did a little fishing. Isaac caught some fun-sized
bass and an eater perch...which he ate. Didn't even offer me a bite after I cleaned it, fried it, served it...oh, well.
