States West Life offers life insurance, dependent life, short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) for employers with 2 - 24 employees. Since the "true group" products begin at 10 employees, the small group program is used most commonly for groups of 2 - 9 employees.
States West Life does not charge a monthly billing or administrative fee. Minimum monthly premium is only $15 total for a combined package of Small Group Life/AD&D, Dependent Life and Short-term Disability. Long-term Disability requires a separate premium.

Available as a stand-alone product or packaged with other Small Group products, Small Group Long-Term Disability offers the following features:
- 50% and 60% of Pre-Disability Earnings benefit
- Standard monthly maximum benefit is $6,000 (Limited & Restricted Industries are limited to $3,000)
- Elimination Period of 30, 60, 90 or 180 days (Limited & Restricted Industries are limited to 90 or 180)
- Maximum Benefit Period – To Age 65 (RBD), 2 year/RBD, 3 year/RBD, 5 year/RBD
- Definition of Disability includes 24-month regular occupation and any gainful occupation thereafter
- 12/6/24 Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion
- LTD coverage is guaranteed issue at 6 employees
- Coverage available to restricted and limited industries allow States West Life to offer LTD coverage to nearly every employer
