am humbled that many of my friends and neighbors across the 7th Senatorial
District have chosen me to represent them in the West Virginia State Senate.
There are many issues that desperately need addressing and I will fight to ensure they are given a fair hearing.
I heard you say that we must improve access to healthcare especially for the most ulnerable aspects of the population: the
very young and our elderly. Your desire to expand and diversify our economy will be heard on the floor of the senate. The
current coal boom will allow us to address many topics that have been ignored in the past years.
Our public school system needs to prepare students for college or a vocation. Additionally, it is vitally important
that these graduates have prospects for a job when they leave school.
Too often I have heard the same sad story…parents tell me their children are forced to move to another
state in order to get a job.
By necessity, these good young men and women are forced to leave their families, friends and homes to earn money
for their futures. I pledge to work with others in the Legislature to change that.
Being a physician, I know first hand the problems with health care in West Virginia.
Costs are skyrocketing, emergency rooms are overfilled, patients can’t find a doctor, and as a consequence,
the patient suffers. We have an obligation as West Virginians to address this problem. Our loved ones are at risk as long
as problems with our health care systems are left unaddressed.
For those other men and women who sought to represent West Virginia in the legislature,
I salute you. Public service is a noble pursuit. Albert Schweitzer once said
