P. BERNARD PIET DEAD.

Word received from Manilla by Mrs. Mary A. Piet on Tuesday verifies the report that her son, P. Bernard Piet. is dead in San Francisco. The letter which is from a friend of Piet's, is dated over a month ago. It states that he had left for his home because of severe illness.

Mr. Piet had been in the Phillipines over five years, employed by the United States Government in the Bureau of Posts. He spent a part of the time in Hong Kong, China, where he was employed by the Standard Oil Company.

He was on his way home at the time of his death. He reached San Francisco alive, but the long water trip had proved too much and he died in the General Hospital there on July 18. He was 29 years of age

He is survived by a daughter, Georgia, aged five years, who lives with his mother, Mrs. Mary A. Piet of Grand street. Richard L. Piet is on his way to San Francisco to take charge of the body. The funeral arrangements will be made later.

Deceased's wife was Miss Georgia Pryor, who died about five years ago.
