- Service Improvements
- Public Records Access on a Internet Web Site.
- Prompt access to on-site case records and court scheduling calendars.
- Prompt costs reconcilation for cases that are closed so that deposits may be returned or billings
processed.
- Redact (black out) Social Security Numbers when Public Record Access Requests are submitted to protect
individual privacy rights and interest.
- Improve general operations and customer service skills with formal and informal training
programs of the Clerk's staff.
2. Obtaining new services without extra costs
- Use of private collection agencies to collect delinquent fines and costs.
- Obtain credit card machines to process payments.
- Obtain self-service pay copier for Courthouse.
3. Reducing Costs to the General Revenue Fund
- Proper setting of user fees. Those that use the Courts should pay for the majority of court
costs -- not the taxpayer.
- Promoting use of the Internet Web Site (once up and running) to reduce telephone calls and Courthouse
visits. This frees up the clerks to concentrate on reducing the work backlogs that now exist.
4. Openness to Experimentation
- Brainstorm ideas from the public, private sector, businesses, employees, Judiciary and other
County Clerks of Court to improve services and try out those that are legal, practical and user friendly to the citizens of
Erie County.
5. Regulatory Change
- Overly cumbersome and restrictive rules and regulations must be changed and become a major thrust
to reform. What the Clerk of Court and the Judges cannot change must be referred to our State Legislators or the
Ohio Supreme Court to reform.
