I got a 3/4 hp DC motor w/ electronic speed control ( my work was upgrading the factory to AC stuff sooooo have bowl will trade with the maint supervisor ) , made a 1-8 adapter to thread on my chuck/s so I could mount up stuff to do finish work on. I slow it down to about 15 - 20 rpm and using a foam brush or cotton rag I flow on my final finish and let it turn for 15 minutes or so. Using the wipe on poly it works very well.

The bracket allows me to mount to the Jet 12-36 for out of balance and etc blanks . the Reeves drive I set in 4th gear and use a 29 inch belt with a 3 inch pully , it will go down one notch which allows me to get just over 150 rpm, the torque is not so great and I have to take light cuts but it does not try to shake the shop down and allows me to get the 16'' size stuff turned by swiveling the head stock to about 45 degress.I also use it to light sand for final finishes , wipe with off with paint thinner and flow on the final coat , let it turn and use my other chuck to start another piece, this is mounted on the far side of the shop away from the lathe and have not had a problem with dust as the dust collector pulls outside air from window by the lathe.

In the same pic you can see the wood holder on my Delta grinder , I set this up according to user instructions I got with my wolverine bg jig, saved me 45$ It works great and is attached to the grinder with a 3/8-16 bolt and nut.
