Page 3 of 3: The history of Posh Bobs Are Awesome
Why?
- Posh Bobs Are Awesome was created while we were learning more
about web design, graphics and producing photo galleries ( January
2010). All of the work was done under Linux. In December 2009 we
upgraded from Red Hat 9 to Ubuntu 9.10. So it was time to re-learn some facets of graphic design using Gimp, photo gallery creation using F-Spot and Kompozer for web design. Additionally the GNU Emacs
editor was used to manually tweak and tune some of the HTML along the
way. Typically sites in the past were were designed in Emacs almost
exclusively. This is the first site done using Kompozer for over 50% of
the work.
- It started out as half a joke as well. After all, Posh Bob's are
pretty awesome and we kept saying that there really should be a place
online that centrally locates information and importantly pictures.
Media has a way of disappearing on the web. A site that has information
and pictures one day, may be gone the next. The intent was to gather a
representation here and provide some links to other places on the web.
- It was fun to do. Researching Posh Bobs was a mostly online exercise (Besides actually knowing how to cut one).
We have to give thanks to all of the sites out there that provided
interesting information and reading along the way. Some appear within the body of
this site and others in the links page. Google and other search engine; searches on "Posh Bob",
"Inverted Bob" & "Angled Bob", especially using the Images option
was something that made life real easy.
- Creatively, it is
also what we would consider a artistic web site and we hope others will
enjoy and have fun interacting with this piece of web/Internet art. Even some original art was draw up to put on this site.
- Other history details have been retroactively put on the Poblog.

- We might
add more content. Especially if people out there send us some content.
