Gazetteer:
- Planetary Information: Ghoraja Juun circles a single
yellow-orange sun and is approximately 1.25
times the size of our own Earth. It is orbited by a single moon (Tomival).
Gravity is roughly the same as our own Earth's.
Weather patterns are very similar to Earth's, though Ghoraja Juun
has a slightly warmer over all climate.
Moon: Ghoraja Juun's moon, Tomival, is approximately 1.5 times the size of out own
moon. It has no known atmosphere and is covered in rough,
mountainous terrain. Tomival has similar phases to those of our own
moon, 30 day cycles. Like Earth's moon Tomival is typically
silvery-white in color. Though during the seasonal "festival" days
it takes on unique colors (Winter: Blue-White, Spring: Green,
Summer: Gold, Autumn: Red-Orange), this unique coloration lasts
for the duration of the night of the festival.
Ghoraja Juun once had four known continents (Ashtalarea, Calathas,
Istria, and Maldraug), during the cataclysmic fallout of the
Gods Fall Wars the continents were shattered into numerous islands
and archipelagos. There is speculation among scholars that one or
two other continents may exist but no solid proof has been obtained.
Any expeditions to verify the existence of these continents have
either failed to return or yield any positive results.
- Calendar: The current Ghoraja Juun/Berothian calendar
year (devised by Berothian scholars after the end of the Gods Fall
Wars) lasts 364 days; it is comprised of twelve 30-day months and
four lunar 'festival' days. These lunar 'festivals' occurs every
three months. Each calendar month is comprised of 5 six-day weeks.
Years are noted consecutively and suffixed by either 'BG' (before Gods
Fall) or 'AG' (after Gods Fall).

- Nations, Empires & City-States:
Detailed information about various nations, etc. that exist on
Ghoraja Juun
- Magic: Magic is a powerful force on Ghoraja Juun. The
entire planet is surrounded by numerous magical flows known
collectively as the Cynoeth (pron. Sin-ath). The
cynoeth is laced around the planet in ever shifting bands, like an
intricate mesh. Any non-priest utilizing magic, taps into the
cynoeth in order to cast spells. There are certain locations on
Ghoraja Juun where several of the cynoeth bands converge. These
areas are known as Cynoethstans. The most well known
cynoethstan is located within/beneath the Tower Illuminate (located
outside of Videssos).
Since the end of the Gods Fall Wars there have been those who have
sought out ways to corrupt the cynoeth. This can result in
catastrophic consequences; magic can surge wildly out of control,
areas can suddenly become 'magically dead' (and the reverse), or in
many cases spell affects become distorted. To combat this, Illuvatar
sanctioned the Knights of the Illuminate Order, who along with his
normal clergy police the use of the cynoeth and punish those who
seek to upset its delicate balance.
Lunar Cynoeth: Tomival is known to have its own cynoeth. Mages have yet to determine a way to tap into
this source, and it is unknown what effect this would have on the Ghoraja Juun's cynoeth.
Psionics: Psionics are also derived from the cynoeth, though
psionicists tap it it using only their mind. This direct mental
manipulation of the cynoeth's energy is extremely difficult, there
for keeping the number of psionicists relatively low. Click
here for
more information on the history of psionics.
Clerical Magic: The magic of divine spell casters is derived
directly from their deity. The gods/goddesses of the
Ythrak-Nyn
are connected to the Cynoeth as well as being vast reservoirs of magical power. Though these 'reservoirs'
contents rise and fall with the level of worship/number of
worshippers a deity has. It is possible for a deity to completely
cut off access the their respective reservoirs, but all of them
realize what a dangerous act this could be.
- Cosmology: Ghoraja Juun uses a cosmology similar to that
of PlanescapeTM (see diagram below). Other planes that
exist in the Ghoraja Juun cosmology are the Astral, Ethereal,
Positive & Negative Material, Elemental Planes (Air, Earth, Fire
Water), Para-Elemental Planes, and the Plane of Shadow.
