The Basics:
Players:
3 on 3 Paintball team format, with a maximum of 6 players on each roster.
Equipment:
Marker - any paintball marker any firing mode except Class B, then the marker must be in semi auto mode. 15
bps rate of fire limit for both classes.
Paintballs: Any brand, bring your own paint. No player is allowed to carry more than 1 - hopper up to 200
rounds of paint and 2 - tubes up to 160 rounds of paint in each match.
The field:
Starts with a standard inflatable bunker speedball field. You may have seen one of these before. The
field measures 90 ft wide by 120 ft long. This size was chosen to encourage lots of movement by each team.
At the end of each field is a 5 yard "end zone". This is where each team begins play.
Format:
We have taken the basic concept of the way traditional paintball games are played and matched it up with some features
we like of more traditional sports. We feel this provides an atmosphere that is more spectator friendly, a simpler
scoring method, promotes professional standards, and a more mainstream sport "feel" to everyone involved.
Our games are based on a match play format, similar to other sports like
tennis. Two teams square off for a 1 hour paintball game consisting of a 3 minute match followed by a 3 minute
rest and reload period after each period of play. This continues until all the game time has expired.
We use an offense vs. defense approach to the game. At the beginning
of each match one team will be the offense and the other the defense.
The offensive team will begin with one player holding a flag.
Their objective is to cross the defensive team's end zone with the flag with out being shot within the 3 minute time limit.
This will be a successful score for the offensive team. Each successful drive will result in one point. There
are no points awarded for shooting opposing players or for scoring quickly (time bonuses).
The defensive team's objective is simply to shoot out all of the offensive
players or to keep them from crossing their endzone with the flag within the 3 minute time limit. If the defense accomplishes
this, then they have successfully stopped the offense from scoring on that drive.
After each successful scoring drive or successful stop
the teams leave the field for the 3 minute rest and reload period and then they switch roles. The defensive
team will now be the offense and will start with the flag, and vice versa for the other team.
A player is eliminated from the match if they are shot by enemy fire
that leaves a quarter sized mark on them or their equipment. (referee's discretion)
If the flag carrier is shot out, the flag remains where they were eliminated
at and play continues. Other offensive players may pick up the flag.
Play will continue like this until the one hour game time limit is up.
At the end of the game the team who scored the most match points wins that game.
