Hitmen knock off Halos

Submitted by:  Wade Moore

The weather was great on this day for paintball and the teams were looking forward to this match. The Hitmen were looking to rebound from a tough 0-2 start and the Halos were eager to play the defending champs. Both teams are ready to get that elusive first win of the season and start building some momentum to close out the season. This marked the half way part of the season and both teams are looking to right the ship and head into the off season on a high.

The Hitmen won the toss and took the first offensive possession of the match. GODS Warriors Halos looked ready but anxious for the match to begin and that added adrenaline to them out of their game plan and the Hitmen scored the first point of the match. The whole first half of this match the Hitmen had the Halos back on their heels just trying to settle in and make a stop or score one themselves. By halftime the Hitmen were in control of this match 4-0.

The teams switched ends of the field and started the 3rd quarter. The Halos looked like a different team in the second half scoring several eliminations, but just could not get that first point. Snake men, Tyler Johnson and Micah Graham took the snake with authority and several times traded hits with their snake opponents. Center man Troy Graham used his communication to guide the tape men and his fire power to provide cover on the edges. JR Brown, who went down on the final play of the game with a knee injury, stepped his game up as well. Michael Segler provided some great moves to the "x" bunker and kept the Hitmens’ snake man occupied for most of the 2nd half.

But in the end, the Hitmens’ Carl Brasher made aggressive moves to cut the field off and made several key eliminations to stake the Hitmen to a 7-0 lead. The Halos did make a defensive stop at the end of the game and can hold their heads up as they were a different team in the second half and came so close to scoring several times. For a complete rookie team, GODS Warriors Halos are learning quick and made the defending champs work for their first win of the season.
Up next the Halos sister team, GODS Warriors Wings will be up against Carbondale Onslaught. Hope to see you at the field!
