This is my concept of a Pembroke Table, from a book sent to me
by my nephew, Nate. It is from the Time/Life series: The Art of Woodworking, CLASSIC AMERICAN FURNITURE.
Destined for the Living Room - the choice of wood is cherry, of course.
The first obstacle - my lumber supply; only rough sawn 1 x's. 3/4" thickness
for the top, leaves, and aprons would be acceptable. The legs of 1 3/4 square would have to be glued up laminations. Rather
than trying to disguise the joints, I would emphsize them with a layer of walnut. Thus each leg is comprised of 4 pieces of
cherry and 3 pieces of walnut.

For the legs, the three pieces of walnut form the cross of the center with
the four cherry pieces as infill.

The drawer front is composed of a poplar core with cherrry veneer and walnut
cock beading.
With the leaves up, the wooden knuckle joint of the support is visible.
