Having achieved a modicum of skill with bas relief carving, I thought I would
try my hand at carving in the round. A friend liked to hand paint Santa statuettes. The Hermit and Santa are from plans by a noted
                  wood carver, Richard Bütz.

Perpetual calendars with clocks were themed for my three neighbors.
Kitten nightlights are scroll sawn with baking paper as a diffuser. They
are finished with black flocking powder. The original shades of the lights were cut so I could epoxy (for heat resistance)
the figures. Only three shown here but I have made about a dozen for friends.

Holiday Season Lamps - each one has all four scenes - candle, ornaments,
house and lane, stocking on fireplace. Tried scroll sawing four at once in 1/8 plywood; too much splintering, settled for
doing two at a time. Took much longer than I had anticipated. Doesn't it always? Burned the midnight oil to get them ready
                  as Xmas gifts.
