HO Scale Trains

Below is one of my father's modules built in the mid‑1980s. This was the very first one he made when the train club was started. We still take it to shows and use it several times a year. The only changes it has seen over the years are updated trees and the background.

The engines include the Bachmann HO Scale 4‑8‑4 Southern Pacific Daylight 4449 with the Broadway Limited Daylight passenger cars (not visible in this image) and a Walthers HO Scale New York Central E7 with the Walthers New York Central 20th Century Limited passenger cars (not visible in this image).

Below is another one of my father's modules, built in the early 1990s. We just got it cleaned up and put back together for the 2019 train show season. It turned out pretty good after we put everything back together and cleaned it up!

The locomotive on the mainline is a Broadway Limited, Inc. Pennsylvania 4‑6‑2 K4 with a few express reefers from different manufacturers and a consist of heavy‑weight passenger cars from Rivarossi. The engine in front of the grain silo is a Bachmann Union Pacific 0‑6‑0.

Father's second HO scale module

This is the newest set of modules in our house. These were built by my oldest son. The basic modules are done and operational — now it's time to complete the winter scenery!

*** The Union Pacific engines are not ours; they belong to one of the club members. The DeWitt Clinton running on the inside loop of the modules is ours. ***

Here's a 3‑minute video of one of our club layout setups. For this show, we were only 20 feet × 36 feet. We have set up in spaces as small as 20×20 and as large as 20×56 feet.

This club has been around since the mid‑1980s and includes adult children and grandchildren of one of the original members.

Here's another video from our largest setup so far. Unfortunately, we did not have any of our modules at this show. It is 20 ft × 56 ft.

Here's a video from a show we set up at in March 2019. This layout was 20 ft × 28 ft. It was the first time we brought the "Kath's Summit Co." module after getting it cleaned up and put back together.
