A native of Madison, West Virginia, Dr. Stollings received a B.A. in Biology and a M.S. in biochemistry from West Virginia University.  He graduated from the Marshall University School of Medicine in 1982.  Dr. Stollings completed a residency in internal medicine at Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in 1985. 

 

Board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics, Dr. Stollings has been in private practice at Madison Medical Group and on the staff of Boone Memorial Hospital since 1985. He is an associate professor of medicine for the West Virginia University School of Medicine and serves as field faculty for the Rural Health Education Partnership.

 

Dr. Stollings assisted with the Coronary Artery Risk Detection in Appalachian Children (CARDIAC) project from 1998-2000.  In addition, he recently served as a member of the University System of West Virginia Board of Trustees and as a member of the Higher Education Policy Commission.

 

Dr. Stollings currently serves as Chairman of the Corridor G Regional Economic Development Authority Board of Directors. Also, he is a member of the Higher Education Subcommittee of the Intellectual Infrastructure Committee of the statewide West Virginia: A Vision Shared effort.

 

In June 2003, BRIM II physicians elected Dr. Stollings to serve on the provisional board of the newly created physicians mutual program.

 

His outstanding devotion to his patients and his community were recognized by the WVSMA in 1994, when its members named Dr. Stollings the Rural Physician of the Year.

 

President of the Boone County Medical Society, Dr. Stollings has served on the Council of the West Virginia State Medical Association since 1994 and is a member of the Medical Education Committee. He began serving as Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates in 2000, as Vice President in 2001, as President-Elect of the WVSMA in 2002, President of the WVSMA in 2003 and Chairman of the Council in 2004.  Dr. Stollings currently serves as Senior Council-at-Large of the WVSMA Council.  He also was a founding trustee of the West Virginia Medical Foundation.
