W.Va. Senate seeks to double fines for littering.
The Associated Press
CHARLESTON, W.Va.

Sen. Ron Stollings is tired of seeing trash along the road on his daily drive to the state Capitol.
The Boone County Democrat sponsored a bill that was unanimously approved Wednesday by the state Senate which will crack down on litter by increasing civil and criminal penalties.
The measure would double fines and cleanup costs for people caught littering. The penalty for smaller infractions would be $300 total, while larger litterbugs would face minimum costs of $1,200.
The bill would also enable the state Department of Environmental Protection to create a statewide litter reporting program.
The measure now goes to the House of Delegates.
