He did not get that assistance from
the government other than the title. He was given a shelter in Muktijoddha Complex in Mirpur where he had been living with
his family since he married Mala Begum of Munshigonj. The family were blessed with 4 children— two boys and two girls.
When elder son was contacted by one of our Ankur BoD and told him how proud they should be for their father,
it appeared to him as joke since the poor hero could not even send his sons to school and provide them the much needed regular meals.
Current Condition:
The oldest of the children is their daughter who got married. Second child is of age 17-18 and did not
get a chance to finish his school. He is currently working in a driving training school and barely earns 100 Taka per day.
Looks like he is the only earning member of this family. Youngest two children are in grade 5 and 2 and some how managing
to continue their education.
The family is living in a shanty house standing on bamboo pillars
with 4/5 rooms. The worst part is even though they are living in this house for so many years, government never officially
handed the document of this house to them. It adds some uncertainty on the future of this shelter.
Immediate
Challenges:
With help of a patriot from Rajshahi (who is proud mother of
one of our Ankur BoD) and a BUET chemical engineering Professor and his team, we located this family and came to know about
their current miserable situation. Their immediate need is to fix the house so that they can live there and they may be able
to rent 2/3 rooms of this house for Tk1000 (one thousand).
What we are thinking:
Can we immediately help her fix the house so that she can live
there and rent the extension for some fixed income? We have to come up with some plan to have her two kids’ continue
the school. Is there a way for the older kid to restart his education in night school? With time progressing we may know better
about their situation and needs and act as situation demands.
