HOW TO SET MONETARY GOALS
Now that we know who we are, we have worked with removing our bad habits and replaced
them with good habits. We now can work with our monetary goals. What is our goal and how do we attain our goal.
Draw a graph of your goal. This makes it easier to see all the steps along the way and
help to understand if this is what you really want.

Business Idea
DO YOU HAVE D. E. P. 0. ???
DESIRE - EDUCATION - PLANNING - ORGANIZATION = SUCCESS
A way to decide what your goal is going to be is while sitting in your relaxed state
visualizing your scene. Ask yourself if there is an occupation, a talent, or a means for you to attain the wealth that you
desire. A way that you would enjoy, that was legal and helpful to you and your fellow man. When you receive an answer do not
deny its ability to work for you. Don't wait to work with the plan. Go to your graph and see if it fits into your chain of
goals. Maybe it doesn't fit. Usually it will. Know there will be an answer.
Have you ever wondered why a person from another country can come to the United
States, can barely speak the language, but seems to successfully start a business. What does
he know that you don't? First of all he knows what he can't do at home. In many European countries there just are no way that
you can take a bare piece of property and build a house. This you can do here. He notices the opportunity and takes advantage
of it.
It seems as though the only way to recognize advantages is to lose them. These people
from other countries recognize how easy it is to go into business in the United
States. All you have to do is rent a space in the right location, apply for city license,
apply for state registration and regulations, and apply for federal tax number. All these departments will happily help you
understand their regulations. In not more than a month the average small business should be in operation. One should have
enough money to pay all living and business expenses for six months (sometimes we have to sacrifice to get ahead). This should
insure ample time to get the small business paying for itself. Let's say the business fails. You have to start all over. (Learn
from your mistakes. The fewer contracts you sign the better off you are.) You have spent approximately a year in your quest
for self-sufficiency. You are where you're at right now. So how can you lose? All you can do is win. In many other countries
they may have to wait for years and maybe never have the opportunity that you have right now.
While you are creating your money to start your business, go to the retirement centers,
and small business association in your community. There are usually retired people that will help you get started. Their knowledge
is usually very valuable. They can help you find the right location, help you spend your advertising dollar in the right place,
show you where to get valuable education and give you advice from their practical experience. Many will tell you now is not
the time to do this, now is not the time to do that. Listen to them and you won't ever do anything. Now is the time to start
any venture that is logical to you. The first step is obtaining the proper amount of money. You notice I didn't say save.
I said obtain. That means find a way to create more cash. Isn't it time to do that right now? You bet. How do we do that?
It’s back to basics. Go back to your relaxed scene. Relax in your scene. Tell yourself you want to know a way for obtaining
the amount of money you need to operate your business and living expenses for six months to get you started (This is your
first goal and it is obtainable.).
Keep each goal small enough that you can see the goal will materialize in the near future.
I was told once that each time I set a goal, don't jeopardize your self in obtaining that goal. There is no need to mortgage
anything to obtain any goal. Wait until you are ready. You will get a better deal. If you set a goal and it seems hard to
obtain, then break it down to a few smaller goals, such as writing a novel. To think of writing a novel of 365 pages might
be an insane chore. If you were to think of writing one page, wouldn't this be much easier? How many days are in a year? One
page a day and in one year there is your novel. Keep your goal small enough so that it is easily attained.
Start now and don't give up. Listen, learn and grow. One profession is the highest paid
and at the same time they are turned down the most. Learn from them, keep trying. The salesman who averages one sale out of
ten clients is usually doing well. Would you say he failed nine times? No. You would say he won, because he is one of the
highest paid professionals. Remember he is looking at rejection many times a day, or is he? In a matter of speaking he has
learned to expect a sale because he's not giving up. Expect success in business and keep trying. You will succeed. You will
win. You will be happy. The most important decision you will make about your business is Location! Location! Location! This
can not be overstressed. Location is the first and most important decision you will make. When looking for a location, keep
this checklist with you.
1. Is the traffic flow on your side of the street, when people are going home from work?
Does traffic have easy exit and entrance from either side of the street?
3. Is parking adequate for your customers.
4. Is there adequate parking for other businesses in your area? You don't want to fight
for your own parking spots.
5. Visibility visible from either direction of traffic flow.
6. Location of competition, would this help or hinder.
7. Future growth of the area.
8. Accessible to main traffic flow.
9. Visual appearance of area coinciding with your type of business.
10. How much foot traffic do you need?
When considering a new location look at the cars parked in the area. They can tell you
many things about the location. If the majority of the cars are new or close to new, within four years, this would not be
an area to sell used goods. It would be an area to sell some of the finer quality new items. If the majorities of cars are
older but seem well kept, this could indicate there are a high percentage of retired people in the area. This segment of the
population has usually made most of their major purchases such as cars, furniture, appliances, and homes. Businesses that
would thrive would be: drug stores, doctors, lower quality clothing stores. This would be a lower income area and not a good
area to start a new business. If the majority of cars were older and not kept, you would not want to bother with this area
at all. The best area is a blend of all car types. This means that this area has a blend of all the people.
Never try to corner just one segment of the population. When times get tough the upper
middle class are the first customers to go. In good times they are your best customers. When times get tough the retired customer
is one of your best customers because his standard of living has probably not changed. In good times they usually are not
your best spenders. Try to keep a blend of ages and class. Your business will flow more evenly.
Look at the other businesses in the area. Your decor should not be excessive. It is easier
to start with less expensive decor and work your way up than it would to start with an overdressed store for the community.
Customers will wait for your decor if you have quality goods and service. If the decor is more elaborate than the rest of
the community shops, the customer will feel uneasy and not return to your store.
