Although most of the custom taggers built at CTDYNE are based on the V2 system, we have built taggers that
are compatable with just about any system.
Here is our take on the venerable ESS taggers of years gone by.
The M-41BP Pulse Rifle
This unit has an ESS board with a Duncan designed booster board that drives seven IR LED's at one amp each.
A 9 volt 5000 mHa rechargable battery pack powers the LED array. The battery pack is removeable without tools in under
a minute.
To preserve the original size and shape of the front half of the M-41A the four-inch lens assembly is housed
on top of the carry handle. The idea is to make it appear as some sort of sighting or night vision device. The scope
is mounted onto the optic tube. The lens assembly shown is a four-inch unit with adjusatable focal length. By turning
the two aluminum knobs on the aft end of the optic tube assembly the focal length can be fine tuned. The four inch lens can
be replaced with a smaller diameter lens assembly.
This tagger was modeled after the original pulse rifle. This unit differs from the original M-41A in that it is based
on a bull pup design where the pistol grip is forward of the magazine, or in this case the battery pack. The over-all length
has been shortened approximately 4". Given the large lens diameter and the weight of the 5000 mHA battery pack this tagger
is balanced well and is easy to hold and fire.
The aluminum stock is retractable and the fore grip cycles forward and aft. There are two different lights, a red tunnel
light and a tactical flashlight. Both are built into the front of the unit.
This custom also features a head sensor that has had the team light mod performed on it by Doug Ross.
Mike's ESS Custom
This unit is based on the original ESS housing with features added to make it more acurate and easier to use.
The retractable stock is fabricated from aluminum as is the combination carry handle/scope mount. The Scope is a 40mm
red dot type with variable brightness control.
The original lens and focal length have been retained with the addition of a TSAL-6100 IR LED.
The battery pack has been upgraded to a rechargable 2300 mHa NiMH pack that is removable and has been designed to fit
in the original battery pack location.
A Surefire prefocused bulb assembly has been integrated into the front of the housing to provide a compact, but bright light
for target acquisition in low light conditions.
This unit also has the usual red tunnel light and one touch silencer features.
