Software I Use

robo.form.50w.jpg

RoboForm saves you time and will keep you safe by automatically signing into your sites. The learning curve is hardly anything at all because you just go down the options section and start clicking what browser you want it to have open your programs and if you want more than one identity along with password protection. Even though I try and keep my sites with easy to remember (for me) passwords the combinations still are a lot. Along with a hard copy of my passwords I have my passwords with my sites all stored in this program with a master password to get into it. This software is worth every penny.

Uniblue System Tweaker This software came free with my purchase of the Registry Booster.

This is great especially if you do not own the WinPatrol software because it gives you easy bookmarks to find your start-up programs etc.

Uniblue Registry Booster does exactly what it says it will do. I will try new products and delete other products and what that does is leave registry instructions that doesn’t go anywhere. A comforting part is that the software will back up the registry as is before the change. Just like when you defrag your system the registry can become clogged too; slowing down your computer. I have used it for about two months now and have had no problems. There isn’t any found errors that are not; all my programs work fine.

Roxio Record Now 9 I have used this before a number of years ago when I first put music on my site. Then I lost it because I did not have a back up for the program. This year I thought maybe I would remember the name if I looked up music software and I did just that. I have not done anything but decompressing and clipping the music for the site, but there is so much more you can do. The learning curve is not very big which means it is not confusing.

ü     Ø Sound Editor to clip a part of the music.

Ø  Convert CD’s by having the program copy your CD and then from the Options button the menu pops up so that you can change the size and can convert to whatever type you want, like MP3, WAV, WMA and some others that I have never heard of; along with other choices as to add data at later time or not.

Ø  Capture sound from your sound card; meaning that any music you hear on the internet you can capture to your hard drive.

Ø  Convert your LP and Tapes by picking what the program has found on your computer to capture sound; like for instance my web cam. Just by playing the music and clicking record it will save your music to your computer.

Irfan (on the lower left) is a really great freeware that I have been using for years. As you can see you can write on your picture and you can put a canvas around your picture; note the green around the picture. You can’t buy this but you can send the guy (Irfan Skiljan is the guy's name) who made the program money through PayPal. You can pay what you like or follow the first link which is 10 EUR or $12.87 U.S.

WINPATROL

winpatrol.jpg

WinPatrol is a freeware that you could eventually buy.

I have been using it since July 06 and I really like it. It lets you know by a bark if something is trying to download or connect to your computer. You say yes or no and that is it. It also has handy menus as you can see; means quick access to start up programs, scheduled tasks, active tasks, cookies, options etc

No real learning curve.

Thanks Randy for telling me about this great software.

FreeRAM XP Pro 1.52 on download.com

free.ram.close.up..jpg

Free Ram XP Pro to your right is what the freeware (or can donate through Amazon or PayPal; which I highly recommend.) software looks like. Clicking the settings tab will look like the left picture. Very simple and straightforward software which is easy to use; you don’t have to set anything for it to work. I have wondered many a time how much RAM I am using and do I need more. I read once that you can never have to much RAM, and I believe it. Why didn’t I get more RAM when I upgraded? Well I wanted a bigger hard drive and in-turn needed a faster processor and Minh said I have enough RAM; 1GB, which is not enough. To be fair I was trying to get the most bang for my buck and Minh was helping me do that. At some point I will be getting more because I like having lots of stuff up when I am working on my many projects.

The number 425 is what I have left with all that I have going in the far left pic.

Update: Got my 2GB, yeah!

I have 2 GB of RAM so after reserve (just like HD reserve) I have 1960 MB left over.

Just turning my computer on I have about 1500 left.  I do have a fair amount of quick links; if that is driving my RAM down I am not sure. The bottom line for me is I think what I originally thought which is between Windows, Office, and Virus, Spy, Ad-aware, and misc. software for protection eats up a good chunk of my RAM.

FileZilla is software that is free and will download your website to your computer to save the pages. I have not learned any software to work on pages myself, (writing my own code) but if I did, this software would be able to upload to the web with all the saves. I do not use it much and keep forgetting how to use it with comfort yet I seem to be able to do it without much time lost.

Other Software that is good if it doesn't conflict with your original software.

ad.aware.se.lg.jpg

Ad-Aware SE is a freeware that works really well and has no real learning curve if you have used Norton Anti- Virus or some other similar software. The advantage to buying the product is that it scans automatically. I haven’t purchased it yet but I could see doing it at some point.
